The '95 Gunners hosted FC Portland Bronze last weekend. FC Portland defeated the Gunners three weeks ago 2-0 up in Portland to create an opportunity for revenge. The Gunners attempted a new strategy of low pressure and tight zonal defending. The Gunners came out on fire and immediately started creating numerous turnovers for FC Portland and subsequent great scoring opportunities for us. Our boys played quickly, sharply, and showed some beautiful combination play. The Gunners were rewarded with a picture perfect goal off a double combination play which led to a cross from the left side and a first time finish into the back of the net. All of that finishing work finally paid off! The Gunners continued to drop back into a compact defensive position and wait for FC Portland to make mistakes. The Gunners had numerous more opportunities and were rewarded with a second half goal to go up 2-0. The boys finished the victory 2-0 and put together a complete game of beautiful soccer!
