Azzurri News
This weekend was pivotal for the Azzurri. Having started the season strong with a tie and two convincing wins we let our selves slide with a loss the weekend before. The game started strong with the Azzurri dominating possession and chances on goal. However on offense we are still holding the ball a touch too long. Weather we need to take a shot or make a pass we consistently try to get one more touch on the ball before we pass and just one touch closer to goal before we shoot. Offensively our brighter moments where when we did play the ball early which allowed a through ball for Michael to run onto and an early shot from distance by Conner. In both cases we played the ball early by making an early pass and taking a early shoot when we had the time and room and in both cases we scored. Despite dominating possession of the ball and creating several excellent chances to finish a couple moments of defensive confusion provided our opponents with two breakaways to goal and the game finished 2-2. In addition too our goals the real shinning moment of the game was the last ten minutes where the boys stepped with the game tied and made a real effort to win the game. They pressured well all over the field and played with a sense of urgency and desire to make something happen. It was the first time they have really had their backs against the wall and showed a real desire to win. Our goal for this coming week is to play the whole game with that same sense of urgency and desire for the whole game and hopefully that will help us played the ball earlier to each other as well as taking early chances on goal.
Go Azzurri!
Coach Everett
