Eugene Metro Fútbol Club - Scholarship Program

Eugene Metro FC offers scholarships based on financial need to qualified players on the club’s U10 through U18 soccer teams. Most scholarship awards cover 50-80% of the player fee with the largest awards going to players whose family incomes qualify for federal free and reduced lunch programs. Players who try out for EMFC U10-18 teams are encouraged to apply for scholarships if their families meet either of the following criteria:

  • The player's family qualifies for free or reduced lunch programs in area schools.
  • Requires a copy of the school districts free or reduced lunch verification form.
  • -OR-

  • Player's family income falls within free or reduced lunch qualifications but the family does not apply for school lunch programs. For example, to qualify for a federally funded school-lunch program, a family of four can earn no more than $28,665 for free lunch and $40,793 for a reduced-cost lunch.
  • NOTE: Application requires copies of page 1 and 2 of federal tax returns for most recent year from all supporting parents or guardians

To apply for a scholarship, parents or guardians should send in a completed application form and the required verification documents -school lunch program acceptance form or federal tax return (pages 1-2 only) before the team tryouts begin.

The scholarship application and required documents may also be handed in at tryouts, brought to team formation meetings, or mailed in after tryouts. Later applications will be considered if scholarship funds are still available.

The Eugene Metro FC Scholarship Committee determines the number of scholarships and the amounts awarded to each player after applications are reviewed confidentially. The award amount is based on the available scholarship funds and the number of qualified applicants. Parents will be notified as soon as the review process is completed. Applications received before tryouts will receive award information at or before the team formation meeting. Later applications will receive answers within two weeks.

Scholarship awards will be credited to players' accounts in two installments. Players will receive 50% of the award after the required $100 deposit is paid and the remaining 50% after two payments are made. Please note: all players receiving EMFC scholarships are expected to fulfill the following:

  • Turn in a completed application with verification documents
  • Pay a required deposit ($100) within 2 weeks after joining a team
  • Make 2 payments before September for U10-U14 players or before January for U15-18 players.
  • Participate in the Eugene Metro FC Fee Reduction Program by signing up for at least one club fundraising opportunity.
